County trees on display at Capitol

This year’s 56 county Christmas trees are now not only on display in the Capitol. The project, which was started 7 years ago by Governor Brian Schweitzer and First Lady Nancy Schweitzer, showcases ornaments made by school children across the state.

This year’s theme – A Homegrown Christmas, was inspired by the First Lady’s new Nancy’s Garden project. Nancy's Garden provides a gardening experience for every 4th grade student by supplying grow boxes, seeds, lesson plans and instructions for each classroom.
The Christmas trees can also be viewed online at www.governor.mt.gov.  At left is the Prairie County Christmas tree.
