Celebrating Terry Schools 100th year of graduating classes will highlight Yippee!

The 2012 Terry Yippee! town-wide annual festivity will include a celebration honoring Terry Public Schools’ 100th year of graduating students. Terry Yippee!, held the last Saturday in July, will be marking its 31st year July 28.

Organizers are encouraging visitors interested in attending Yippee! weekend to make hotel reservations early.
The 100th year celebration will include a Friday and Saturday, July 27 and 28 tour of the school grounds. A Saturday afternoon ceremony with cake and refreshments is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. at Murn Park. A school board presentation honoring the 100 years of graduating students at Terry Public Schools is also planned during that time.
A display will be available for viewing in the high school lobby throughout the weekend.
Getting the word out early is important, said organizer Dale Galland, who hopes alumni classes already making plans for their reunions, will work their gathering plans around the celebration.  Galland noted most area lodging facilities were at full capacity during last year’s Yippee! weekend. He is expecting similar circumstances this year.
Yippee! weekend plans will include a Friday evening performance by the Clintons with the Beave opening at 7 p.m. at the Prairie County Fairgrounds. Saturday’s schedule includes a corn toss doubles tournament that begins at Murn Park  at 9:30 a.m. and a Prairie County Motorcycle Association Motorcross held at the fairgrounds from 3 to 6 p.m. An evening street dance by the Liquidators will conclude the festivities.
