USDA APHIS PPQ has a cost-share program available to help ranchers treat rangeland grasshopper infestations this summer. Shayne Galford from USDA APHIS PPQ is requesting information from ranchers that are worried about grasshopper populations this summer and may be interested in treatment.
The projects will need to be 10,000 acres minimum, blocked up contiguously. BLM land can be treated as a part of a block with private and state land. Galford asks that ranchers make a list breaking the land they are proposing down section by section. A map that shows the details for half and quarter sections is also appreciated.
If you are interested in learning more about the grasshopper treatment program, please contact Shayne Galford at 657-6282.
