Thanks to a generous sponsorship from Stockman Bank, the Custer Ranch Rodeo has purchased bronc chutes to install at the Custer Arena in preparation for its 6th annual event.
In the first five years of its existence the Custer Ranch Rodeo operated as a fundraiser for the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame, and raised over $19,000 for that organization. Beginning this year the ranch rodeo is turning its fundraising abilities to restoring the historic Custer Arena, located northwest of Custer on a bluff overlooking the Yellowstone River.
In previous years the Custer Ranch Rodeo has used borrowed chutes for its annual event, scheduled for Saturday, June 9 this year. The committee thought it appropriate to put this initial investment in the arena toward purchasing and installing two used bucking chutes and two saddling chutes. These chutes will both ease the operation of the ever-popular ranch bronc riding at the ranch rodeo, and make easier the work of setting up for the event.
Entries are already filled for the 2012 Custer Ranch Rodeo. Teams will be coming from Hysham, Terry, Pryor, Sand Springs, Shawmut, Pompey's Pillar, Bighorn, Lodge Grass, Broadus, Bridger, and Hardin to compete. Gate charge for spectators is $5 and the grand entry begins at 2 p.m.
