Edmond Foote Kempton, 98

  Edmond Foote Kempton, age 98, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2012 at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care in Glendive. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m.. on Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor Avis Anderson officiating. Interment with Masonic Graveside Rites will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry, Montana. Silvernale-

Edmond was born on November 14, 1913 in Terry the son of Berney E. and Martha (Magnuson) Kempton. He was raised and educated in Terry graduating from Terry High School with the class of 1931. Following his graduation, Edmond moved to Bozeman where he attended college at Montana State College and graduated in Animal Husbandry with the class of 1936.
Edmond met and later married Kora Kartevold on May 21, 1939 in Terry. Edmond worked for a variety of different jobs throughout his life; the Federal Land Bank in Glendive, County Extension Agency in Scobey, Montana, BIA at Fort Peck Reservation in Wolf Point and Poplar, Montana and the United States Bureau of Reclamation in Washington, California, Colorado, Oklahoma and Montana. He and his wife, Kora retired in Mesa, Arizona where they resided for twenty-six years before moving to Glendive in 1999 where he had resided since.
Edmond was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star in Terry, American Right of Way Association, Boy Scouts and various Civic Clubs. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Berney and Martha Kempton; wife, Kora Kempton in 2007; son-in-law, Knut Raade; four brothers and cousin, Elizabeth Torgerson.
He is survived by his children, Kay Raade of Bozeman and son, Kenneth Kempton and his wife Joanne of Sacramento, California; nephew, Gary Kartevold; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; cousins, Martha Auker of Glendive and Gus Magnuson of Miles City and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Zion Radio Memorial Fund at the Zion Lutheran Church, 401 Riverview Avenue, Glendive, Montana 59330.
