Tickets available to attend ‘Last Lecture’ given by Dr. Rauh

Dr. J. Randall Rauh, Ob/Gyn and long time Miles City philanthropist, will present a ‘last lecture’ at a fundraiser benefiting Custer Network Against Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault (CNADA) April 24, 2009. The event will be held at The Park Place, 20 N. 8th St., Miles City and will include dinner by Roadrunner Catering, an Evolution of Dance performance and a performance by the CCDHS Jazz Band.

Last lectures are popular on college campuses. Many professors give one. The lecturer gives what would be his or her lecture if it really were the last lecture that person will ever give. A speaker series presented annually at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, that started out as “The Last Lecture” is now entitled “Journeys”. That series became extremely popular in 2007 following the lecture given by Randy Puasch, a professor of computer science, human computer interaction and design, entitled “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams”. It was inspiring. The lecture appeared on You tube and was viewed by millions. His collaborative book about the lecture and his life philosophy has become a number one best-seller.
CNADA, in seeking an innovative fundraising idea, decided to begin a last lecture series of its own and invited Dr. Rauh to be our first “last lecturer.”  Dr. Rauh has been a Miles City resident for many years and is well-known by the people of eastern Montana. His good reputation stems from the quality care he gives to his patients, the number of babies he has delivered, and his generosity to many charities. He has been particularly supportive of programs that benefit youth. Dr. Rauh’s longtime medical practice, his generous philanthropy, and the fact that he will be retiring from his Miles City practice this year made him the perfect choice.
The April 24th event will begin with a no host cocktail hour. Doors at Park Place will open at 5:30 pm. Buffet dinner will be served by 6:30 p.m. Joseph Murnin and company will perform an Evolution of Dance and be followed by Dr. Rauh’s lecture. The CCDHS Jazz band will close the evening festivities. Silent auction items will be available for viewing and bidding throughout the evening.
Purchase tickets by April 20th  through CNADA at 2000 Clark St., Miles City (234-0542) or the Miles City Area Chamber of Commerce at 511 Pleasant St., Miles City (234-2890). Cost for the event is $30.00 per person.
