Local athletes compete at Big Sky State Games

Local youth and adults took part in the weekend Big Sky State Games in Billings. 
Brock Smith, son of Tom Smith, was among those representing Terry. Brock received gold medals in discus, shot put and the 200 meter race, and received a bronze in the 100 meter race.
Other Terry runners competing included: Janet Fredrickson, Layne Lantis, Caitlin Lantis and Laiten Lantis.
Terry was also represented in the girls basketball competition as many from the high school team participated in the weekend games. The team, coached by Sharilyn Kortum, included 10 of the high school girls. Players were: Halle Keltner, Katelynn Mendenhall, Randee Shannon, Alyssa Morast, Mikayla Ridenhower, Lindsay Stickel, Anna Fredrickson, Caty Morrison, Lexie Schlosser and Caitlin Lantis.
Saturday the Terry girls fell to teams from Joliet and Laurel, while defeating Busby Sunday. 
  A few of the highlights from the Big Sky Games included the opening ceremony presentation led by gold medalist Olga Korbut, which included a recitation of the games’ oath, “We swear that we will take part - in these Big Sky State Games - In the true spirit of sportsmanship - And we will respect and abide by the rules that govern them -  For the glory and honor of our state."
Participants from Wyoming, Idaho and South Dakota and all counties from Montana were represented during the weekend games, which included 10,000 athletes and 2,000 volunteers.
