Council mulls meeting change

The Terry Town Council is considering changing their monthly meeting date from the second Tuesday to the second Thursday of each month.

The decision to change the date stems from the council’s desire to retain town attorney Rebecca Convery, whose enrollment in a graduate program in Florida last month caused the council to consider the change due to commuting concerns.
Convery has worked with the town since 2011. According to the proposed ordinance she has been contracted with the town through the fiscal year of 2013.
Other items up for discussion at the Sept. 13 town council meeting are: a truck route ordinance, building permits and programs, and an update from the town’s zoning commission. The town council will also adopt a final budget for 2013, address issues regarding town equipment, the swimming pool and streets and alleys. A closed session addressing a personnel issue is also on the agenda.
