Gladys McLarnon, 99

   Gladys McLarnon, 99, of Laurel passed away at her home on March 23, 2013, with her family by her side. She was  just shy of her 100th Birthday.  

        She was born to Russell and Julia Hoagland on June 27, 1913. Gladys was raised on the family homestead north of Terry, with five brothers Herbert, Laverne, Roy, Ralph and Jack. As a young girl she started teaching school north of Terry, she  also taught at Rockvale, Byam, Park City and third grade in Laurel.  
She married Paul McLarnon on February 16, 1935.  Together they traveled extensively and she claimed having traveled to all 50 states. 
She was active in outdoor events with family and friends, also bowling, golf, horseback riding and cards. She crocheted afghans for her grandkids and pieced together many colorful quilts. As she got older her favorite past time was to watch bull riding on TV.  
Gladys was a very witty and fun lady, always loved a good joke! 
Left to cherish Gladys’ memory are her daughters Judy McLarnon (Jay Dunn) and Marilee (Buck) Wold; nine grandchildren Dan, Lisa, Heather, Richard, Terina, Angie, Debbie, Renee and Dirk; eleven great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren; a sister in- law Vena Hoagland.   Preceding her in death are her grandparents, parents, a son Darold, granddaughter Patricia, son-in-law Pat Reed and all her brothers.   The family would like to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice for the compassionate care they  provided to Gladys  especially to RaeLynn, Terese, Sandra, Renee B. and to her granddaughter Renee.   Also special friends Jim and Jeanette Schroeder who spent many fun times with Paul and Gladys and Shawn Kennedy for all his help.  A  Rosary Service was held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday March 27, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Funeral Mass held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday.
