The BLM will hold a public meeting to discuss the Miles City Field Office Draft Resource Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement in Terry May 8.
The meeting will be in an open house format and held at the Terry Elementary School cafeteria from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The draft document can be viewed on the internet at http://blm.gov/0ykd
<http://blm.gov/0ykd> and describes different alternatives for managing public lands within the Miles City Field Office. This is part of the 90 day public comment period for interested publics to submit written comments on the draft to the BLM.
The open house format will include introductions, a brief BLM presentation and an opportunity to talk individually with various BLM resource specialists. Public comment forms will be provided during the meetings for members of the public to submit written comments, which are considered in finalizing the document.
“In particular to Prairie County, this meeting is one of the ways the Miles City Field Office is reaching out to share information on the proposed management of approximately 429,340 acres of BLM surface estate in the county,” said BLM Miles City Field Office Manager Todd Yeager. “This management includes if and how the BLM would authorize uses from livestock grazing to recreation, to oil and gas management.”
After the comment period ends on June 5, 2013 a proposed Final RMP/EIS will be issued in late summer 2014. That will be followed by the final step in the process, issuing a Record of Decision.
