Young shooters take to trap range for contest

Young shooters between the ages of 6 and 11 participated in a BB gun shooting contest on Saturday held at the Prairie County Sportsman’s Association’s Trap Range.

Gun safety was stressed prior to the shooting competition.
First place winners for each age group received a target stand donated by Huber Enterprises, while those earning second place for each age group received a rifle cleaning bore snake, donated by PCSA.
Winners included: 6 and 7 year old age group: 1st Hatty Eaton; 8 and 9 year old age group: 1st Shawn Johnson, 2nd Molly Eaton; 10 year old: 1st Owen Higgins, 2nd Bailey Kortum. Loni Kortum won the tie-breaker against Justice Huber, winning the last bore snake.
The most outstanding shooter was Shawn Johnson, who had never shot a BB gun before the contest and shot a perfect score.
