Hound dog called in to find boy in cornfield

A 6-year-old Terry boy was returned safely to his parents early Saturday evening after spending over three hours in a cornfield north of Terry.

A call came in to the Prairie County Sheriff’s office at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20 requesting assistance in finding the boy, according to Undersheriff Greg Huber. A hound dog from the Miles City Police Department also assisted with the search, along with several volunteers.
The boy was ultimately discovered by Allen and Carol Lachenmaier, landowners of the cornfield, around 6:45 p.m.
Although the boy was reportedly dehydrated and tired, he was found in good condition. Saturday’s temperatures, nearing 80 degrees, were much cooler than normal.
