Area crops battered by Saturday’s hailstorm

A hailstorm, resulting in golf ball size hailstones, pummeled crops within the irrigation project east of Fallon Saturday evening. The National Weather Service of Glasgow issued tornado warnings for the July 20th storm. Although some area producers reported spotting funnel clouds, none touched down.

The above picture, taken from the Little Fallon Flat area, pointing east, illustrates the magnitude of the storm.

Also pictured is one of the hailstones that hit the ground about three miles east of Fallon. Neither Terry nor Fallon were impacted by the storm.
