Town receives grants for sewer improvement project

The Town of Terry recently received two grants totaling $20,000 to help the town plan on how to improve its sewer system.  The first grant was announced August 8 and came from the state’s Department of Commerce as part of the 2015 Biennium Treasure State Endowment Program (TSEP) planning funds. The second grant of $5,000 is from the Department of Natural Resource and Conservation, according to Town Clerk Lynn Strasheim.

The funds will be used for the preliminary stages of developing an engineering statement and report that will address operator safety concerns at the town’s sewer lagoon, north of Terry. As discharge restrictions tighten and increased testing is required, these elements will also be addressed in the town’s sewer improvement project.
