Dean Edward Youngquist, 91

  Memorial service for Dean Edward Youngquist, 91, of Sidney, Mont., was held Monday, October 21, 2013 at Lonsdale Methodist Church with Pastor Vicki Waddington officiating. Interment of cremains followed in the Prairie County Cemetery, in Terry, Mont. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Foundation for Community for Care/Hospice. Dean was born on August 10, 1922 in Terry, Mont., the son of Clarence and Delma (Zeller) Youngquist. He was raised on a homestead on Big Sheep, Mont., north of Terry. He went to country schools, riding his horse 8 miles each day. He graduated from Terry High School in 1940. He was inducted into the Army on February 3, 1943, serving during World War II in North Africa, Sicily, England, and on D-Day in Normandy, receiving 2 Bronze Stars. 
On June 30, 1946, he was united in marriage to Claudine Bennett at the family farm, 30 miles north of Terry. In 1949, they moved to their own farm 5 miles east and resided there until 1958, when they moved to a ranch 30 miles south of Sidney. They moved from the ranch to their current farm in 1969 and have resided there since then. 
In addition to ranching, Dean was the yard boss at the Tenderloin Feed Lot for 15 years. He also was a cattle buyer for 25 years. Dean was a member of the Moose and the VFW. In his younger years, Dean enjoyed roping at the saddle club, rodeos, his matched pair of mules, playing cards and square dancing with wife, Claudine. In his later years he loved going to daily coffee, his garden, picking chokecherries with his wife and his great-grandchildren. 
  Dean died at his home in Sidney on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at age 91. 
He is survived by: daughter, Norma Holland, Portland, Ore.; grandsons, Troy and Tyson Holland; daughter, Diane Sorenson, Sidney, Mont.; grandsons, David and Wade (Michele) Sorenson and granddaughters, Brittney Sorenson and Meagan (Glenn) Dotson; son, Larry (Diana) Youngquist, Sidney, Mont.; granddaughters, Heather Cook, Monique Jacob, Shannon (Dustin) Sletvold, and grandson, JC (Kim) Youngquist; son, Bruce Youngquist, Kalispell, Mont.; grandsons, Kane Youngquist, Jade Youngquist, Dameon Youngquist and granddaughter, Renata Youngquist; 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.
Dean is preceded in death by his wife, Claudine Youngquist; parents, Clarence and Delma Youngquist; and brother, Roy Youngquist.
