  Lyla Ann (Purvis) Scheitlin, age 66, of Fallon, Montana, passed away peacefully at her home in Fallon on Friday, November 22, 2013. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. A Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2013 in the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with Father Rob Oswald and Father Francis Schreiber officiating. Rite of Committal will follow in Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Lyla was born on July 2, 1947 at 10th General Hospital in Fort McKinley, Rizal, Philippine Islands, a daughter of Vernon and Logeria (Capa) Purvis. At one month old she made her way to the United States with her parents. She was raised and educated in Glendive, Montana graduating from Dawson County High School with the class of 1965. Following high school Lyla attended Dawson Community College. She married the love of her life Peter C. Scheitlin on June 17, 1967.  Lyla enjoyed working at home as well as working at Richland County Hospital, Montana State Highway Department, Husky Car & Truck Stop and Montana Dakota Utilities.  
Lyla spent her time giving her gift of creativity to her family and friends through embroidery, knitting, sewing, baking cakes for all occasions and canning. She would go hunting, searching for agates and fishing when she could. She loved fishing in Alaska and going south for the winter. Her favorite way to spend her time was traveling with Pete by 5th Wheel, visiting family and friends, spending time with her great-grandchildren and making new friends. 
Lyla was a member of V.V.A. (Associate Life Member), Veterans of Foreign War (Auxiliary Life Member) and the Sacred Heart Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Logeria Purvis; sister, Lucille Purvis; son, Jared Scheitlin.
Survivors include her husband, Pete Scheitlin; children, LeAnn (Paul) Vorhes, LaNita (Bill) Bestol and John (Iris) Scheitlin; grandchildren, Shaunivon (Amanda) Vorhes, Rachel (Josh) Miller, Virginia Thompson, Dani Birch, Shandi Cross, Brandon Cross and Jesika Bestol; great grandchildren, Landon Vorhes, Eveangelene Miller and Austyn Vorhes; siblings, Vern Purvis Jr., Lorraine (John) Shultz, Harry (Peggy) Purvis, Linda Purvis and David Purvis and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials in honor of Lyla may be sent to P.E.A.K.S. of the St.Vincent Health Care Foundation.
