Donald (Don) G. Hubber, 85

  Donald (Don) G. Hubber, age 85, of Terry passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013 in Helena, Mont.  

Don was born September 26, 1928 in Belt, MT, the son of George and Susan Soha Hubber.  He lived in Monarch, MT in his early years before moving to the family farm/ranch in Belt.  He graduated from Belt High School in 1945 at the age of 16.  In 1950 Don graduated from Montana State College in Bozeman with a degree in Range Management. On October 11, 1949 Don married Marcia Smith in Great Falls.  They were able to celebrate their 50th anniversary before Marcia passed away on August 1, 2000.  After graduating from college, Don served two years in the Army.  Upon his discharge, he began work for the Soil Conservation Service in Helena.  He was transferred to Terry in 1957, where he lived until 2010.  While working for the SCS, he planted thousands of trees in Prairie County. Don served on the Terry City Council and later as City Clerk.  Upon his retirement from the SCS, Don served as Prairie County Clerk & Recorder for three years, and then began what was probably his favorite job, delivering fuel to his friends in Prairie County for Cenex.  
Besides being a terrific husband, father & grandfather, Grandpa Don was a dedicated Terry sports fan, spending numerous hours at baseball, football & basketball games.  Later in life, he was an avid license plate collector.
Don was predeceased by an infant son, John; his parents; his wife, Marcia; and his sister, Mary Cleveland.
Surviving are his son Dale (Joan) Hubber, Portland, OR; son Dan (Peg) Hubber, Clancy, MT; daughter Susan (Kevin) Miller, Glendive, MT; Grandchildren, Jude (Felicia) Hubber, Portland, OR; Ross (Bri) Hubber, Denver, CO; Evan (Alexis) Miller, Brookings, SD; Bethany (Reid) Ryan, Jordan, MT; Bret (Sarah) Hubber, Helena, MT; and Erica Hubber, Helena, MT; Great-Grandchildren, Ashlynn Miller and Declan Hubber.  
Visitation was held on Friday, January 3, 2014 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry.  Funeral services was held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry.  Interment followed in the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry.  Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Terry is in charge of the arrangements.  Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting:
