Clara Brott, 93

By Tribune - Posted on 04 June 2014

The Lord called Clara Brott home on May 24, 2014 at Holy Rosary

Extended Care in Miles City with her family by her side.

Clara was born on February 28, 1921 near Marsh, Mont., to Adolf and

Maria Schlenz Schwartz. She attended grade school at Fairville

country school and began high school at Terry High School but needed

to return to the farm to help her parents and assist with her younger

siblings until the family moved to Fallon.

On September 14, 1940 she married Leslie Dirks in Fallon and they

moved to Seattle, WA where Les worked in the shipyards. In 1944 their

daughter Sharon was born and shortly after they returned to Fallon.

In 1949 daughter Dianne was born followed by daughter Pamela in 1955.

Clara worked with her husband Les for many years as custodians at

the Fallon Grade School. She also was employed at Milo’s Grocery in

Fallon. She loved little children and babysat many youngsters over

the years. She was very active in the church and was a charter member

of Fallon Homemakers. She loved doing embroidery and making quilts.

She made sure all the family had some of her “stitchery” to remember

her by. She spent many hours with the church ladies making quilts for

missions and the needy.

In 1989 Clara married Dodd Brott of Plevna. As he was a member of

the Southeastern Montana Fiddlers they spent many enjoyable times at

fiddle sessions and senior citizen dances. She met many friends there

and enjoyed the travels they did together.

As her health declined she had to move to the nursing home in Miles

City where she became great friends with her roommate, Loretta. They

spent many hours talking about “old times” and just enjoying each

other’s company.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Les, brothers

Jake, Otto, Herb, Fred, Dave, Henry, Richard, Adolf, Rudolf, and baby

brother at birth, one sister Lilly, grandson Jason Scott Freiboth and

husband Dodd.

(Wade) Freiboth and Pam (Rocky) Ban; 6 grandchildren and 13 great
