Terriers bring home three state medals

The three seniors, Josh Stickel, Caty Morrison and Caitlin Lantis,
pose with their state medals.

Although it may not have been as many medals as they’d hoped for, the Terry track team has little to be ashamed of, said head coach Leann Lantis, of the team’s performance last week at the State Class C track meet in Great Falls.

“They all competed well,” Lantis said. “We had a lot of personal bests in running and field events. They had nothing to hang their heads about.”

The two-day state meet held in Great Falls, May 30 and 31, boasted perfect weather conditions and stiff competition.

“That’s what you expect at a state meet,” Lantis added.

Bringing home medals in their events were three seniors — Caty Morrison with a 19-0 launch that earned her a fourth place finish in the pole vault; Caitlin Lantis earned a sixth place finish in the 3,200 run with her 12:11.98 time and Josh Stickel finished the triple jump with a 41-08.50 leap that earned him a fourth place medal.

“I’m pretty pleased,” Lantis said of the team’s performance, noting she’s looking forward to next season’s results when the younger athletes have another chance at a state meet.
