Terriers gain win in Lambert

On Wednesday the Terrier football team traveled to Lambert to take on the R & L Fusion (Richey  and Lambert) in a game that would determine Terry’s playoff hopes. The weather could not decide what it wanted to do. There was rain, freezing rain, sleet, and even a little snow.  This did not dampen the boys’ spirit.
Terry’s Tanner Stickel recovered a fumble by the Fusion on the game’s first play. Terry was unable to capitalize on the turnover. The defense held strong forcing a Fusion punt attempt that went wrong giving Terry great field position. On fourth down, Trevor Pisk found Tanner Stickel wide open in the end zone for a 15 yard score. After a Stickel interception, Weston Luedtke ran for a 15 yard touchdown. Jerett Freiboth kicked the extra point. The second quarter would remain scoreless, giving Terry a 14-0 lead at the half.
After Taylor Pisk recovered a Fusion fumble, Trevor Pisk gained 26 yards on 3 carries to set up a 5 yard touchdown run by Luedtke. Terry’s defense forced the Fusion to punt on their next possession. Terry put together a 9 play 56 yard drive capped off by a Luedtke 5 yard run. Freiboth added the kick bringing the score to 28-0. Terry would take this lead into the fourth quarter.
On the 1st play of the 4th quarter Freiboth hit Stickel for a 45 yard completion, this set up a 1st and goal from about the 5 yard line. After a short gain on 1st down, Freiboth hit Taylor Pisk for a 2 yard touchdown pass. Terry now had a 34-0 lead.
After trading possessions for the rest of the game, the Terriers came home with a 34-0 shutout win. Now all Terry has to do is defeat Rosebud on Saturday to secure the 4th seed in the Eastern conference.
“The win over Richey-Lambert was a total team effort with all of the team contributing to the win,” stated head coach Casey Schladweiler.
