Food bank, donations help area families

With the arrival of the holiday season, area groups are ensuring the spirit of giving remains alive and well. Consider the following reports.

Four local families received Thanksgiving baskets filled with traditional menu items for the holiday. After FCCLA students spent a pre-Thanksgiving afternoon going door-to-door gathering donated food items, baskets were arranged and later delivered to the families by Prairie County health nurse Joan Hubber.
Community food bank board members also reported that their cupboards are full, ready and available to anyone in emergency situations.
“You will not go home hungry,” food bank board member Margie Feickert said of those who ask for help. The community food bank began about 25 years ago, Feickert said noting food storage is located in the county courthouse for easy access. Other food bank board members include: Hubber and Bill Klunder. For more information on the community food bank call 635-2133.
