Lantis places fourth at All-Class State tourney

It was an experience Terry’s two high school wrestlers are not likely to forget, and one, as freshmen looking to three more seasons ahead, will surely aspire to achieve again.

Layne Lantis and Tyler Forcella competing with the Glendive’s Red Devil co-op wrestling team contended in the 22nd annual All Class State wrestling tournament held in Billings this past weekend.
Lantis came away with a fourth place finish at 125-pounds, while 98 pounder Forcella ended in seventh place.
The Red Devils' team achieved an overall 6th place finish with a 123 points.
“It was a very exciting weekend, a pleasant surprise,” said Red Devil’s wrestling coach  Tim Zody, pointing to the fourth place finish Lantis achieved for both divisionals and state.
Describing Lantis’s first match as a “thriller” Zody explained that Lantis was matched up with Seth Sewell of Belgrade, a first place finisher from the Central Division. Sewell had been ranked in the top 4 all year.
“Layne took Seth into overtime and won the match with a sudden death takedown, then won his next match against Nick Howell of Polson,” Zody said, explaining those finishes put Lantis in the semi-finals and guaranteed him a place at the state competition.
