Memorial Day services will be held at the Prairie County Cemetery, May 31 at 10:30 am. Presentations will include Sergeant of Arms Fred Rambur and Master of Ceremonies Glen Meidinger. John ‘Lum’ Latimer will lead the prayer service.
Guest speaker will be WW II Veteran Dennis Hjorth. Hjorth joined the U.S. Marine Corp in 1943 and served part of his time on the island of Iwo Jima, where he was wounded. Hjorth was recently honored during a Veterans Day celebration, where he was presented with a flag from the War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia, a plaque and Certificate of Flag Presentation.
A breakfast prepared by the American Legion Auxiliary will begin at 7 am. It is free to all veterans.
