Lady Terriers move on to play Roberts after victory over Absarokee
In a hard-fought contest during the second game of the Class C Divisional Tournament, the Lady Terriers pulled away in the final moments, ending with an 8-point victory over the Absarokee Lady Huskies. Terriers' 66 - 58 victory means the team will face off against the fourth place 6-C Roberts team, Friday at 6:30 pm at Dawson Community College in Glendive.
The game featured back and forth single digit leads between the two teams, as well as many trips to the foul line. Two of Absarokee's players fouled out in the second half of the game.
"We just made the right adjustment when we needed to," Head Coach Sharilyn Kortum said of the Terry team, noting the team kept a level head throughout the competition.
Part of Terry's success seemed to rely on their ability to maintain less turnovers, as well as taking advantage of each trip to the free throw line.
"We made some important free throws down the stretch," Kortum said.
Terry's Amy Browning was awarded Most Valuable Player of the game.
"Amy stepped up and did a good job," Kortum said, noting the team was able to work their inside game during the second half of the game.
Looking to tomorrow night's game against Roberts, Kortum noted the two teams play very similarly.
"We're both short and scrappy," she said, adding both teams play aggressive man-to-man defensive.
Absarokee will face off against Wibaux Saturday at 11 am at DCC.
