Volunteers meet in July to renovate fairground buildings

On July 13 members of the Prairie Benefits, the local Community Foundation serving Prairie County, painted eight of the concession buildings at the Prairie County Fairgrounds.

Members scraped and cleaned the outside of the buildings. Twenty-four gallons of paint were used during the refurbishing project.
Fences were not painted as the fair board is considering replacing the fence when additional money is available.
A total of 18 volunteers helped out with the day-long project.
In other Prairie Benefits news, a $500 donation was received that was designated for the local Boy Scout troop. A donor has been making monthly donations and when the amount reached $500, the check was given to the troop.
A $250 donation come in for the Fallon Fire Department and Prairie Benefits matched that amount, allowing a $500 donation to the volunteer fire department for use in the new building they purchased.
