Christmas offers opportunity to think of others

 Tribune Editorial

‘Tis the season to be merry! It’s also a great time to remember the needs of others.

The Prairie County Health Department is reminding residents of the giving opportunities that exist to help local individuals and families. Boxes filled with grocery and gift items will be collected and delivered. Food and monetary donations can be dropped off at the Terry Town Hall or the health department. The Community Christmas Giving Tree is also available. Located inside the Terry Sacred Heart Catholic Church, those interested in donating gift items can select an ornament from the tree and provide the needed item. Area churches also offer opportunities to help others.
Last year two dozen households felt the giving spirit of others, as boxes filled with groceries and gifts were delivered by county officials.
This year, the donations are already arriving.
While dashing from one Christmas event to another and adding up your already bulging to-do list, these local giving opportunities are great ways to help others and encourage the true
spirit of Christmas.
Working together we can ensure area families have gifts under their tree and a holiday meal to enjoy.
