School, union begin contract negotiations

As the one-year contract for salaries and benefits of the certified teaching staff at Terry Public Schools draws to a close, school trustees and union representatives have begun talks to negotiate a new agreement.
Town purchases new garbage truck
During the regular Feb. 9 Terry Town Council meeting, which extended to Feb. 10, council members approved the purchase of a new Peterbilt garbage truck. The $181,777 truck from Montana Peterbilt of Billings came in as the low bid of eight bids submitted with prices ranging as high as $210,774.
Three file for school trustee seats
Three candidates, including two incumbents, have filed for the two open Terry Schools trustee positions. They are Jason Higgins, Brian Morast and Michael Sterchi.
Randall announces re-election bid for state representative seat
“Montana's economic future and our individual liberties are under attack. Montana's legislature needs proven conservatives who will fight to restore our jobs, reduce the size of government and cut taxes,” said state Representative for house district 39 Lee Randall. “I have a proven record of defending our values and fighting powerful special interests, while others in Helena just pay lip service.”

County mails second easement notices

Of the 159 public access requests for roads leading through deeded property, 79 signed easements have been returned, according to Prairie County roads rights-of-way project manager Gary Pfiefle.

The Prairie County Republican Central Committee held their annual meeting March 7 at the conclusion of the Lincoln/Reagan Dinner.
County officials look to resolve horse trespass complaint
Prairie County Sheriff Bill Klunder and County Attorney Becky Convery weighed options with commissioners Monday morning on how best to handle a horse trespass complaint that was formally filed with the Sheriff’s office in June of 2008. It has been an ongoing issue since that time, according to Klunder.
MDT director responds to letters received on proposed bridgework

Nearly 20 comments later, including three phone calls from state representatives, Montana Department of Transportation Director Jim Lynch confirmed last week that the proposed bridgework north of Terry may not require road closure.
