Fallon veteran honored
Fallon Veteran Dennis Hjorth was honored during last week’s Veterans Day celebration. Hjorth, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, saw some of the fiercest fighting of the war, including a 36-day battle on the island of Iwo Jima, where he was wounded. Honors, presented to Hjorth by fellow retired Marine Charles Deisher, included a U.S. flag that was raised and lowered from the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia and a plaque with a Certificate of Flag Presentation.
