School trustee deadline nearing, hospital opening draws two

         As the March 24 filing deadline nears, no nominating petitions have been submitted for the two open school trustee seats, according to Terry School Clerk Cathy Kalmback. 

The three-year positions are currently held by Scott Fredrickson and Elton Stickel. Both incumbents have requested petitions, but as of Tuesday afternoon neither had been returned, Kalmback said.

Local law enforcement approach questioned at safety meeting

  The Public Safety Commission met earlier this week to address concerns regarding the method of law enforcement being employed within the Prairie County Sherriff’s office. The three-member board and Prairie County Sheriff Bill Klunder listened as members of the community recalled instances and shared opinions on the practices of local law enforcement, with board members also offering their insights on the matter.

Public hearings on roads begin

Judge orders pre-trial mediation on Scenic View

Prairie County officials will take part in a court ordered mediation later this week, in an attempt to bring resolution to a three-year dispute over public access on Scenic View Road, according to Prairie County Attorney Becky Convery.
The pre-trial mediation, ordered by District Court Judge Richard Simonton, will take place Friday, March 4 in Billings.

Prairie County Health Fair will offer tests and vendors March 10

        The 25th annual Prairie County Health Fair will be held on March 10 at the Terry High School gym.  

“We changed the site to the gym this year because we will have over 20 vendors offering health information to attendees” Joan Hubber said, Prairie County health nurse.
