FCCLA district readies for ‘a-thons’ fundraiser

Olson begins work at Tribune

  Dawn Olson has begun working at the Terry Tribune, completing composing and advertising duties. 

Olson, a 1990 graduate of Terry High School, recently returned to Terry from Wichita, Kansas, where her husband Keith is stationed in the Air Force. Keith will join Dawn in Terry in June after retiring as a Master Sergeant from the Air Force.

FSA election held

  The election for a Farm Service Agency County Committee member in LAA-1 (the north and west part of the county) is complete. The seat up for election was held for the past three years by Brady Liles. 

Candidates for the office were Todd Ban and Brady Liles. Ban was elected as regular member; Brady Liles is first alternate. The alternates fill in in the event the elected member is unable to complete their term.

Chamber elects officers

  Incumbent officers for the Prairie County Chamber of Commerce were elected to remain in their positions for 2011, during the Dec. 8 meeting. Officers are: Dale Galland, president; Inger Koppenhaver, vice president; Laris Netzer, secretary and Ally Capps, treasurer.

Students will perform Christmas programs next week

From the THS Music Dept.

  The 2010 5-12th grade band and choir Christmas Concert is Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ray Frank Gymnasium.  The concert will consist of 5th grade band, 6th grade band, jr. high band and choir and high school band and choir, a student on the Ocarina, and a guitar solo.

Local men help with search and rescue effort


Terry men Aaron Martinson and Jared Davis sit on the snowmobiles they used to help find a Dawson County couple who became stranded near the Pine Unit area. The couple spent Sunday night in their vehicle after efforts to find them by Dawson County officials were unsuccessful. Prairie County officials became involved in the mutual aid effort Monday afternoon.

Landowners file counterclaim for abuse of process

Michael and Terry Karrels filed a counterclaim in District Court last month for abuse of process against Prairie County commissioner Todd Devlin. The 10-page counterclaim lists Todd Devlin, individually and as a county commissioner and Prairie County as defendants.
