Friday’s luncheon and bake sale kicks off pre-Valentine events

  Terry’s February calendar is chucked full of events that begin with Friday’s luncheon and bake sale organized by Prairie County homemaker clubs.  

The annual event, held at the Prairie Community Center, will include baked goods to be sold from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and a luncheon that will be served at 11 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the Fallon Fire District.

County commissioners weigh in on proposed road bill

State lawmakers will listen to testimony this week on a proposed bill that would require landowners to seek permission before installing a gate, sign, fence or other barrier on a road. The hearing on House Bill 290, sponsored by Rep. Jon Sesso, D-Butte, is scheduled to go before the transportation committee on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 3 p.m.

Hospital looks to fill nursing director post

  Prairie Community Hospital is currently searching for a person to fill the hospital’s director of nursing position. The position, once held by Terry Chavez, who had been with the hospital for at least 4 years, became vacated mid-December, according to PCH administrator Parker Powell.

Twenty-two teams compete in weekend coyote calling contest

  Frigid temperatures left 22 teams collecting only 13 coyotes during the 11th annual Prairie County Sportsman Association’s coyote calling contest. The contest took place Jan 7-9.

Variety of fitness classes to be offered at Center

Filing for school trustee deadline announced

 Those interested in serving on the school board for Terry School District 5 have until March 24 to file. Filing has opened for the two seats currently held by Scott Fredrickson and Elton Stickel.

Those interested in the three year positions can pick up a form from school clerk Cathy Kalmback’s office. 
A candidate must be a registered voter and a resident of Prairie County.
