Track teams bring home district first place trophies

  The Terry High School girls’ and boys’ track teams each earned first place trophies at the District 4C meet in Miles City. It was the second year in a row that the Terry teams earned the top spot at the district meet, which includes up to 11 teams from eastern Montana Class C schools.

Terry’s six Top Ten qualifiers bring home medals

  So far, Terry High School’s track season predictions made earlier by head coach Leann Lantis have proven accurate. The season has gone as planned - that is, except for the weather. Meet cancelations and partial team participation, due to scheduling conflicts with other high school events, have frustrated an otherwise ambitious and successful season.

Weather dampens track season

  Rainy weather conditions haven’t helped Terry High School’s track season, causing the cancelation of the Glendive Elks track meet on Saturday and the May 4 Top Ten meet to be postponed to May 10.

Team competes

        With nearly half of the Terry High School track team attending a trip to Washington D.C. as part of the Close-Up group, the remaining team traveled to Beach, N.D. Saturday to compete in track and field events. 

The following are the results from the track meet. Times were not provided by Beach track meet organizers.

Terry High track team begins season on solid footing

        Performing at a level normally seen later in the season, the Terry High School track team earned top scores at last week’s two track meets, both held in Glendive at the Dawson County High School track field.

THS alumnus coaches soccer team to Sweden

       Troy Leatherman is coach of a Canadian U14 soccer team that will be competing in Sweden this summer. Leatherman, a 1992 Terry High School graduate, has led the team throughout the western United States playing in tournaments. Leatherman’s son Bailey plays for the team.

Season’s high school track meets listed

 The Terry High School track team is gearing up for eight track meets beginning April 1, before moving into the District meet in Miles City May 13.

Track meets scheduled include: 
 Thurs., April 1, Wibaux hosting at Glendive, 10:00 a.m.

Track team’s enthusiasm makes up for weather’s lackluster conditions

        Spring conditions may not have completely sprung, but Terry High School’s track and field season has and according to head coach Leann Lantis this year’s team will be an exciting one to watch.

“It’s a strong group,” Lantis said of the 18 competitors who make up this year’s high school team.

Stickel named to play in statewide games

 Terry High School Senior Tanner Stickel has been selected to play in the 2010 6-man All Star football game in Highwood, Mont. Players are chosen from the best in the state to participate in the week long event culminating in a Red vs. Blue game on June 5.

Stickel has also been chosen to play in the 2010 Crowne Plaza Senior Classic basketball tournament. Players from Class AA, A, B, and C schools are invited to the three day tournament which is held at the Billings Senior High gym March 18 – 20.

Tough losses halt run for state

         The Custer County District High School gym has proven to be an unfriendly venue for the Terry varsity girls’ basketball team this season. After a disappointing performance in the 4-C district tournament the Lady Terriers again loaded up and headed to Miles City for the Southern 4-C divisional tournament, - this time hoping for better results.
