Daniel Thomas Foley

Daniel Thomas Foley, 84, passed away from complications after open heart surgery on June 8, 2020.

“Danny” was born in New York, one of five children, to Daniel & Helen Foley, on November 12, 1935.

Dan worked for the Salvation Army and it was there that he met the love of his life, his “Baby” Jenny. Danny and Mary (Jenny) were married on June 24, 1977. This month they would have shared 43 years of marriage.

Dan drove the Sunday Bible school bus and he and Mary also taught Sundayschool classes for the Salvation Army Church in Santa Ana, California.

They moved to Montana in 1983 or `84, where he served as a deputy sheriff in Mineral County. Several years later they moved to Terry, Montana where he took a position as Chief of Police. When the police department merged into the Prairie County Sheriffs Department, he served as a deputy. Dan retired just before the new millennium and in 2016, they moved to Glendive where they have resided ever since.

Through all those years, Dan became an evangelistic minister of Christ. He has taught in home Bible studies, and has ministered at the Dawson County Correctional Facility and Veteran’s Home. He and Mary are members of Break Forth Bible Church, founded by Dan’s mentor in Christ, Larry Phalen.

Dan was one of the kindest and gentlest souls God gave us. He loved to laugh and be a “silly willy” and he loved children. One of his favorite Bible verses to share was Colossians 1:9-11.

Danny is survived by his loving wife, Mary, his three step children, David Shaffer, Patty (Kurt) Schiller, and Cole (Rene’) Woldridge. Dan also has six grandchildren and eight great grandchidren.

A memorial service was held on Monday, June 15, 2020, with Dan’s dear friend and pastor, Jeremy Vester officiating. Donations to Break Forth Bible Church in Glendive, Glendive Veteran’s Home, Wounded Warriors, or Shriners Hospital for Children would all be blessed if you are so inclined.
