Darlane Jane Kuehn Pisk, age 86 of Terry, passed away August 5, 2019 in the Prairie County Nursing Home in Terry, in the comfort of her pink blanket and knowing that her daughter and son-in-law, Jaynee and Dale, were with her. She was born North of Terry on the Kuehn Family Homestead on July 8, 1933 to Gotthilf and Lydia Buechler Kuehn.

Darlane was the youngest of nine children and attended the Becker Country School, and at the age of twelve moved into Terry where she attended Terry Schools. While in high school she began dating a handsome fellow from North of Fallon named Frank Pisk, who she met at the Powder River Dance Hall. Frank and Darlane married on April 14, 1950. Their lives were quickly filled with four children in five years, Rickey, Randy, Ronnie and Jaynee. Frank and Darlane were foster parents and this resulted in the adoption of one very special little boy, as son Shane joined the family in 1971.

Darlane’s passion in life was her family and she had many nephews and nieces who she kept in close contact with, and who she also considered her children.

Darlane loved a good game of bridge and pinochle and she continued playing throughout her life and spending many hours at the Senior Center in Terry with her friends. Darlane was also an avid reader and couldn’t wait to buy a good book or watch professional sports on TV. She was also a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Terry.

Darlane was preceded in death by her parents Gotthilf and Lydia Kuehn, and husband Frank Pisk. Two sons Rickey Pisk and Shane Pisk. Four brothers: John, Gus, Sam and Clarence Kuehn, and three sisters: Ella Parker, Hilda Martinson, and Gleda Liles.

Survivors include her sister in Sunny Side, Washington, Mildred Liefke. Also her daughter Jaynee (Dale) Hellman of Terry, and sons Randy (Cindy) Pisk of Fort Peck and Ron Pisk of Terry. Grandchildren: Heidi Hellman (Bryan) DeFoe, Misti Hellman (Dyke) Boese, Wendi Hellman (Matt) Michaelson, Shaun (Amber) Pisk, Corey Pisk, Trina Pisk (Jason) Hall, Travis Pisk, Justine Pisk (Carl) Laumeyer and Fabian (Kari) Pisk.

Great-grandchildren: Mason, Tanner, Hayden and Dawson DeFoe. Logan, Leksie and Laken Boese. Noah and Oakley Michaelson. Lila Pisk. Walker Laumeyer. Braeden Pisk.

Another one of Prairie Counties German Speaking “Old-Timers” has passed, and taken with her so much local history and knowledge.

Graveside Services will be on Sunday, August 18 at 2:00 at the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry. Pastor Jerry Blobaum, of Ogema, WI, will conduct the services.

A luncheon will follow at the American Legion, Post 32, in Terry.

The end of life deserves the same Beauty, Care and Respect as the beginning. And Darlane’s family would like to express their appreciation to the medical providers and staff at the Prairie County Nursing Home, in Terry, for providing this.

Any memorials received will be given to the Prairie Community Hospital Foundation.
