Iva Waldo, age 100, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at the Prairie Community Nursing Home in Terry.

Iva was born in Amidon, North Dakota on May 30, 1919 to John and Lily Weagel. She had three brothers Otis, Walter and Ralph and a sister Lyda Houchen. In September of 1936 she moved with her family to a farm at Sidney, Montana. She would often talk about riding with her sister on top of their possessions in the back of the truck all the way to Sidney. She did housework for several ladies and worked for a short time at the Yellowstone Merc. On April 18, 1939, she married their next door neighbor Wayne Waldo. They lived in Sidney where Wayne drove a grocery delivery truck. On April 26, 1943 their daughter LaVonne was born. The following year they moved to a farm on the Buffalo Rapids project. On February 16, 1947, they welcomed another daughter Bonnie to the family. Then on January 7, 1954, Wayne and Iva finally got their boy, Wade Wayne.

Iva liked gardening and canning, flowers and mowing grass. She spent many hours sewing and made many of the girls clothing and crocheting. She made afghans for all her children and grandchildren. Iva loved her church, was a Sunday school teacher for several years and was a member and officer of the ladies group at church. She spent many years in the Hatchet Creek Homemakers Club holding offices in the club as well as in the county.

Wayne and Iva took many trips and loved to spend their winters in Arizona. In 1992 Iva moved to Glendive where she lived until November of 2017 when she moved into the nursing home in Terry.

Iva was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sister, her husband Wayne, son Wade

and son-in-law Lynn Haidle. She is survived by her daughters, Lavonne (Delbert) Hoffer and Bonnie Haidle; sisters-in-law, Marie Weagel and Dorothy Weagel; daughter-in-law Sandi Waldo; grandchildren: Kristi Hayes, Tina Roos, Teresa Froehlich, Ross Hoffer, Jeff and Jerry Haidle, Jeremy, Blake and Danny Waldo; twenty great grandchildren and two great, great grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Church of Fallon. Interment will follow in the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry.
