In 1973, they were once again on the move when they went to Edgemont, SD to manage a ranch for several years. Later they bought a number of trucks, hauling everything, as the slogan said, “Lettuce to Livestock.”

In 1976, Spike went to work for Burlington Railroad as an electrician, ending up in Glendive for seventeen years, being put on a disability in 1991 due to a back injury. After recovery, he went to work for farmers and ranchers in the Fallon area.
