Mark Whitney Shumaker

Mark Whitney Shumaker of Terry Montana, passed away at the age of 69 on November 2, 2022, at Laurel retirement home from natural causes.

Mark Whitney Shumaker was born on October 21, 1953, he came into this world and changed it forever. He grew up in Terry, Montana and then moved to Billings where he would finish high school at Billings West High School. In his youth he loved to ride motorcycles and goof off with his friends, which he still did for many years.

Eventually he would settle down and unexpectedly have two kids of his own. Mark was a great father and strived to make sure they had what they needed and that they would succeed in their own way. Throughout his time Mark had many jobs but a few that stick out were his time as an industrial painter as well as

driving his gravel truck. He also worked at the sugar refinery in Billings before retiring. As he got older, he delved into art and canvas painting which occupied a good portion of his time. Mark had a good sense of humor and always kept his family and others in good spirits. Overall, Mark was a very unique person. We were blessed to have known him and hope that he will be remembered for the good man he was.

Mark is survived by his two children Whitney Kate Shumaker and Mark Justin Shumaker as well as their mother Christine. Also, his sister DeAn Small and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Joseph Shumaker, Shawn Shumaker, and Payton Shumaker; and sister Sandra Ross.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Interment will follow at the family lot in Prairie County Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his brother Payton Shumaker.
